Meet Shirley Woods — Locally Rooted & Globally Conscious.
Passion Meets Purpose
Passion Meets Purpose
I'm a local (and proudly “mature”) web designer, and Certified Galloway & Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Guide. I live in the wee village of Dailly, near Girvan, just ten minutes drive from the West Coast. I build websites that work brilliantly for people and tread more lightly on the planet we share. I aspire to work with local farm shops, craft makers, guest-houses and more.
A tough patch in life, which started during Covid, nudged me to rethink the work I was doing and why. During those tough 5 years, I learned patience, resilience, and the importance of really listening to what felt right or wrong; to what brought me joy and to where there was resistance.
In the late Summer of 2025, I accidentally stumbled on the uncomfortable truth about how much energy a typical website uses, and it changed everything. I realised I could bring together the two things I care about: good design and genuine care for our environment.
Now I specialise in fast, low-carbon websites that run smoothly even on slower rural connections, and reflect the sustainability values of the craft makers, cafés and small enterprises of the Biosphere region.
Living and working in the Biosphere means I understand the local realities and the pride we take in doing business the right way.
My job is to make your online presence feel authentic, efficient and easy. No jargon, no overwhelm, just a site that matches your values and helps your business grow.
If you’d like a website that feels good, works fast, and treads lighter, I’m here to help.
For People & Planet
For People & Planet
To make sustainable web design accessible to everyone, especially the independent businesses that give our region its character.
I want to show that sustainability online isn’t about being perfect or technical. It’s about making better choices: hosting with renewable energy, resizing images, simplifying code, and understanding your site’s impact. Each step saves energy, reduces costs, and makes your website faster and more enjoyable for visitors.

Personal & Collaborative Approach
You know what's refreshing? Actually talking to the person doing the work. When you work with me, you're dealing directly with me, no account managers, no ticket systems, no runaround. Just real conversations about your project.
We 're building this thing together, step by step, at whatever pace works for you. I'll walk you through every decision in plain English and keep you in the loop on exactly what I'm working on and why. I'm new and I'm small , and honestly? I love it that way. It means your project stays personal and gets the attention it deserves.
Sustainability Built-In
I don't tack on "green features" at the end like some afterthought. From day one, every project I touch considers performance and carbon impact. Every design choice, every line of code gets the sustainability test. It's not extra. It's essential.
The Foundation I Build On
The Foundation I Build On
Carbon Awareness
Every colour choice, every image, every line of code gets the sustainability test. Will this make the site faster? Will it use less energy? Can we achieve the same impact with a lighter footprint? It's not about compromising on design. It's about designing smarter from the ground up.
Continuous Learning
The web moves at lightning speed, and what worked last year might be outdated tomorrow. So I stay curious, I stay current, and I keep learning, because that means you don't have to. You focus on your business while I handle keeping up with the latest in web performance, accessibility, and sustainable design practices
The Low-Carbon Web Collective
The Low-Carbon Web Collective
Wee Media is part of a growing movement of local businesses proving that performance and sustainability belong together.
Across the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, cafés, craft makers, and small enterprises are re-thinking how their websites work. Cutting digital waste, improving speed and showing that values and technology can coexist.
By joining the Low Carbon Web Collective, you’re choosing to measure what matters: faster pages, lower emissions, greener hosting and more inclusive design. Every project I take on adds another voice to a simple belief: good websites shouldn’t cost the earth.
